5G NR Supplementary Downlink (SDL)

Hello All.

:white_check_mark: In 5G NR, to increase the capacity and data rate especially in the low frequency bands (below 1 GHz), a downlink carrier in unpaired spectrum as SDL carrier can be added to aggregate with a carrier, e.g. in the paired spectrum (FDD).

:white_check_mark: Here I try to depict a scenario that a SDL carrier in n75 (1500 MHz) is aggregated with a carrier in n20 (800 MHz).

How UE indicates support for SDL and SUL in NR?

Is there any IE to indicate it?

Check here:

At the mid of the page is what IE you need to check.

Good link, thanks!

Is same for SDL as well?

As you know, SDL is used for CA.
In case of SDL , There is no IE when you reffer to 38.331.

38.306:
For band combination with SDL, the SDL band is counted as one of the bands.SDL is indicated as “FR1-NonSharedFDD” carrier type.
