Congestion reduced after increasing MAXPDCHRATE parameter

Hi Everybody.

After increasing MAXPDCHRATE to 100, TCH congestion is reduced.
Can anyone tell me why?

  1. When “IOUPDCHSWTICH” is set to ON in a concentric cell: Set this parameter to a large value if customers have a high requirement for PS service performance. This increases the number of boards of which the logic type are GCUP, increases the number of PDCHs, and decreases the number of available TCHs in the underlaid subcell of the concentric cell.

In this situation, CS services in the underlaid subcell are affected.

Set this parameter to a small value if customers have no special requirement for PS service performance. This decreases the number of boards of which the logic type are GCUP, decreases the number of PDCHs, and increases the number of available TCHs in the underlaid subcell of the concentric cell. In this situation, PS services in the underlaid subcell are affected.

  1. In other scenarios: Set this parameter to a large value if customers have a high requirement for PS service performance. This increases the number of boards of which the logic type are GCUP, increases the number of PDCHs, and decreases the number of available TCHs in the cell. In this situation, CS services in the cell are affected.

Set this parameter to a small value if customers have no special requirement for PS service performance. This decreases the number of boards of which the logic type are GCUP, decreases the number of PDCHs, and increases the number of available TCHs in the cell. TCH congestion or PDCH?

Hello,
It is because it allows more traffic channels (TCH) to be used simultaneously. This means the system can handle more calls or data connections at once without getting overloaded, leading to less congestion and better performance.
