We have 3 main frequency ranges in microwave Links
-
Traditional band 6-42 GHz
-
V band 60-75 GHz
-
E band 71-86 GHz
-
Traditional band used for long distances and medium capacity Links
-
Because the channel bandwidth is from 7 to 56 MHz
-
Capacity of the Link depends on 2 Factors related to frequency range :
- Bandwidth of channel
- S/N
That’s according to Shanon theory.
-
V band (specially 60 GHz) used in small cells Links because it has high attenuation due to Gases.
-
It has the advantages of frequency reuse, but the distance of coverage is low.
-
E band is from 71-76 GHz and from 81-86 GHz.
-
Channel bandwidth is high (from 250 MHz up to 2 GHz).
-
E band can cover approximately from 3-5 km distances.
-
E band has higher capacity than traditional.
We widely used traditional and E bands in microwave Links.
