Does UEs can use the same SR to ask for resources in the UL?

Hi Experts.

Does anyone know if UEs can use the same SR to ask for resources in the UL?

SR is for UL only.

And if UE already have the grant for UL and UL transmission is ongoing. BSR will come in picture where eNB will ask about the data in UE’s UL buffer and according to that resources will be assigned by eNB for UE’s UL.

For BSR: LTE SR

If UE is in idle mode or connected mode and PUCCH resources are not configured (very rarely the case in connected mode).
UE will initiate RACH and get itself configured with PUCCH resources and then it will send the SR for sending the data in UL.
