Enhancing National Roaming Mobility between Operators

Hi everyone,

Has anyone worked on national roaming mobility between two operators/service providers?

I’m looking for a feature or technique to enable seamless idle or connected mobility from Operator-X to Operator-Y. The goal is to allow UEs in poor coverage areas of Operator-X to reselect Operator-Y more smoothly and quickly, rather than waiting until they lose service completely. Currently, we observe that UEs take 2 to 3 minutes to switch to Operator-Y.

Any insights on RAN features that could help speed up this transition?

Dear,

As far as I know, there is no specific radio feature for this event. Roaming is activated based on a specific TAC, which primarily triggers roaming only when there is no coverage from the source operator.

I have seen local roaming being implemented, but I believe it has all been managed from the core side.
