For cell having 6 SSB deployed, is there any way to identify which beam for near or far region?

Hello NR Experts.

  1. For volume based sgnb addition, it’s seen success rate is poor for sgnb addition what can be reason? How UE indicates need for sgnb addition in volume based?

  2. For cell having 6 SSB deployed, is there any way to identify which beam for near or far region?

UE doesn’t indicate anything, eNB decides based on UEs RLC buffer.

Succes rate may be poor because most of SgNB addition might be happening due to LTE cell edge UEs.

Near or far with respect to what?

Thanks!

For beam like we have different beam index for 6 SSB config 5_1, so how beam distinguished for far and near region?

There is beam ID associated with every beam broadcasted in SSB.

UE just measure beams having RSRP better than certain threshold.

Ok so all beams uniform.

In some vendors, the decision of which beam to be used is either decided by the NW side through the RRC Mode configuration message, or it can be chosen by UE, which could be more optimal.

Thanks is there any parameter for it?

How to decide it?

Yes for Huawei ‘ssbmodeswitching’.

  • Either set it as ‘RRCMODE’ this parameter will let gNB decide.
  • Or set ‘NOSWITCH’ this will let UE decide optimal beam.

For FR1 < 3 GHz → 4 SSB
For 3 to 6 GHz → 8 SSB

For FR2 > 6 GHz 32 SSB (analog BF)

I think it’s as per standard…

Not 32 but 64.

Oh, yes, 32 vendor limit.

As per 3gpp 64.
