  • On DRX disabled option, the UE keeps monitoring the PDCCHs on each subframe.
    On DRX enabled option, the UE monitors the PDCCH on a predefined time durations then goes to sleep to save UE power consumption.

Maybe you are mixing DRX an C-DRX. The second, is the DRX in the Connected mode and works as @cheikh789 mentioned, and can be disabled. The first cannot be disabled and will rule the paging procedure.

“DRX disabled” means UE has to be awake always, listening to the paging signal. If DRX enabled, then UE has to wake up only during “DRX ON” period to listen to Paging. Here is an explainer video: Energy Saving Techniques for UE in 5G: RRC States, DRX, and CDRX - YouTube
