Some Parameters exchange in the Air Interface between Ue and RBS in LTE Drive Test is illustrated in the picture below.
UE received Rx signal (RSRP) with Interference becomes SINR and map it to a table to yield CQI.
Before sending Modulation Type for Data Transaction purposes, RBS needs to get CQI, RI (Rank Indicator), and PMI.
