Is it normal to have measurement report gaps in a call?

Greetings Gentlemen.

Is it normal to have measurement report gaps in a call?

(62 seconds no measurement report sent)

Admin note: this post was updated with image below.

Do you mean measurements gap required for inter freq and inter rat measurement?

It’s required during VoNR or VoLTE call as well to keep mobility.

It’s for intra freq HO, but yes I know it’s mandatory to keep mobility.

But not sending measurement reports, is that possible by a UE?

I got a call in stable mode in which, for a while, the measurements stoped showing up on the trace.

Is it for 5G SA intra freq case m-gap config?

What issue you faced in call ongoing?

It’s a special case here.

It’s GSM-R for high speed trains.

The trains needs to be connected into the network to be able to reach 320 km/h speed.

When it’s disconnected it slows down to 160 km/h.

Got a call drop in stable state, where there is no handover.

Measurements stoped showing up before call droped, so I don’t have visibility on downlink quality, how it was.

This is a VIP user.

I am doubting that the absence of measurements could be cause of the drop but not sure.

What would lead to the absence of measurement reports in your opinion?

Absence of measurement can also be due to wrong mobility threshold configured.

Check thresholds.

Measurement report not received on base station or UE didn’t send?

UE didnt send.

It seems the criteria to trigger measurement event not met.

Please check measurement threshold / configuration.

Only 1 reason radio condition not satisfied there need for UE to send measurement report.

What if the UE sends them periodically, but the base station do not receive?

Is it possible that interference is preventing the transmission via air interface?

Yes that is possible.

You can check whether the acknowledgement is positive or not on PHY layer for the TB which contains UE Measurement report in UE side.

Sounds good, thanks for the help

Thanks to everyone who answered my question.
