LTE/5G NR (NSA) MIMO Overview, Implementation and Optimization/Use Case - Part 1

In this summarize (Part-1), I will share about Wireless MIMO overview in very simple words/slides.

Please to share if its useful for you.

Have a good day Friends!

  1. Motivation: “Technologies Are Evolving for more data capacity”

  2. Refer to Shannon’s Law there are 3 ways to surpass the Capacity Peak Rate

    • By More Spectrum
    • By More Antennas (MIMO as Key Role)
    • By Reduce Interference Mitigation
  3. What is MIMO?

    • MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) is an antenna technology for wireless communications in which multiple antennas are used at both the source (transmitter) and the destination (receiver) to transfer more data at the same time (spatial)
    • MIMO (4x4) was first introduce for LTE on 3GPP Rel.8 and continue through its evolution
  4. MIMO characteristic:

    • Spatial multiplexing
    • Transmit diversity
    • Receive diversity
    • Beamform
