MIMO vs. MISO

Hi All,

What is the difference between MIMO and MISO in terms of capacity equation?

The difference lies on the ‘S’ of MISO → MISO has only one (single) antenna on receiving end, while MIMO has multiples antennas.

This cause MIMO to have higher capacity (can send more data at once) because it uses multiple antennas on both sides, while MISO provides less capacity.

  • MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output): multiple antennas at both the transmitter (sending end) and the receiver (receiving end).

Capacity for a MIMO system

  • MISO (Multiple-Input Single-Output): multiple antennas at the transmitter (sending end) but only one antenna at the receiver (receiving end).
