Anyone know details of below KPI:

  • PDCP_SDU_VOL_DL_MB

This is PS DL Traffic Volume

But how is it calculated on PDCP layer?

It’s PDCP SDU, it could have been MAC SDU.

Any idea, why this is not calculated on MAC Level?

PDCP PDU is MAC SDU.

That’s correct but KPI here is PDCP_SDU.

IP PDU is PDCP SDU.

Do you know why DL throughput volume is calculated on PDCP and why not on MAC

I have seen some operators using MAC SDU

I saw one operator using PDCP SDU DL

Because MAC has retransmissions.

Why would anyone like to count retransmissions?

We are all interested to calculate data transferred in DL.

PDCP SDU DL → it mean data coming from PGW side to eNB.

MAC retransmissions are between UE and eNB.
