UE Compatibility with 90 MHz Channel Configuration

Dear all,

If a UE indicates that it does not support a 90 MHz channel, but the cell is configured with 90 MHz, can the UE still access the cell?

It won’t be able to access, which is why the concept of BWP exists.

It depends on the gNB. If the gNB accepts the cell bandwidth and responds positively, the UE can access the cell.

All UEs support 100 MHz, and 80, 90, and 100 MHz are subsets of 100 MHz since they share the same CP lengths. Therefore, if the gNB operates at 90 MHz and the UE supports 70, 80, or 100 MHz, it will work as long as the gNB accepts the UE.

Apart from the initial BWP, if only a single large BWP with a 90 MHz bandwidth is configured, the UE cannot access the cell.

In this case, an additional dedicated BWP with a bandwidth smaller than 90 MHz (e.g., 60 MHz) is configured for the UE.
