What are NCR in 5G?
NCR stands for Network-Controlled Repeaters, which are devices that amplify the wireless signals between the base station and the user equipment. NCRs can improve the coverage and capacity of 5G networks, especially in indoor and shadowed areas. NCRs are different from traditional repeaters, which are passive and do not communicate with the network. NCRs are active and intelligent, and can be controlled by the network to optimize their performance and avoid interference.
NCRs are part of the 3GPP Release 18 standardization for 5G networks
