Yes, many unemployed.
Luckily, many of us left in time and ended up at some operators.
Huawei is growing again in Latin America.
Totally agree!

Compared to Huawei and ZTE, Nokia and Ericsson has better Work culture.
By there Nokia may have already been acquired by Samsung.
I had predicted earlier in this forum that mergers and cost cutting measures will accelerate in telecom across the globe.
Do you really think Samsung would go for it?
Samsung is very conservative in hiring, acquiring and investing.
They are fully profit driven and scale does not matter to them.
They may acquire Nokia to increase their clientele.
They aint buying Nokia: they are buying Nokia’s clients.
Mergers in telecom will continue till we have one or atmost two operators per country.
We do not need more than two operators per country. One is good enough.
What does that mean?
What they would do with Nokia’s Staff, Infra, R&D?
Unfortunately, fire them all.
One is good enough?
And then who will handle Nokia current NWs?
This is bad thing. It creates monopoly and bad for telecom employees.
Outsourced resources, working on daily wages
Exactly. At least Two operators needed.
What is the most pressing problem across the world: shortage of reliable, consistent, cheap electricity.
Money is flowing fast from telecom into energy.
If telecom operators can convert themselves into energy providers, they may survive.
Otherwise, it’s the end.
Can telco operators invent small nuclear energy reactors?
Not just power each of the telecom cell tower with a mini nuclear nuclear, but also provide electricity to the area served by the site…
Thats the type of business plans we need to survive.
I can easily expect telecom projects outsourced on Upwork and Fiverr in near future.
Optimize 5G site: jobs posted on Fiverr… Paying 5$ per site if not per cluster.
You are talking about operations.
What about R&D support, new developments etc?
Samsung cannot do it, because they dont know anything about Nokia.
And surely they cannot swap entire Nokia networks even within 2 years.
Who is doing R&D for Alcatel Lucent now?
Nortel? Motorola solutions?
When the vendor dies, so does its R&D, new developments etc.
All Alcatel Staff was retained by Nokia in India.
That was the worst decision by Nokia.
It was enforced by ALU: if you buy us, you must retain our staff.
It is one of the reasons Nokia is getting destroyed today…
Lets not talk about that.
Point is: Samsung cannot manage Nokia without Nokians…
They will outsource it on Upwork.
Mark my words.
Ok…
No cellular operator worries about anything more than cost today.
Cost is the single obsession of operators.
To cut cost, they will go to any level.
I am working for probably one of the biggest operator in entire GCC.
I know how operators are thinking.
There is no way you can increase revenue in telecom.
The only thing operators can do is to cut cost.
